Divers can discover a host of exciting and wondrous dive sites where manta rays, turtles, reef sharks and all manner of tropical reef fish can be found. The 112 spacious villas are spread across 10 hectares of paradise. Choose between a selection of four villa categories, located either on the beach or suspended over the lagoon. Each villa is designed with a Maldivian flavour and reflects the natural shades and hues of nature. Soft tones and natural materials including wood, coconut thatch and stone come together in harmony to create your comfortable and secluded home-from-home.
The private sundecks feature a large swing chair big enough for two, known as ‘an udoli’, built in traditional Maldivian style. The beach villas are furnished with four-poster beds with romantic white drapes while the beds in the water villas are placed in prime position to admire the view of the sea. In the beach villas, the large semi-open air bathrooms include showers shaded by a wishing-well-style roof and some have a standalone bathtub, while the water villas also have freestanding bathtubs with unbeatable ocean views.
Each villa is equipped with king-size or twin beds, air-conditioning, flat screen TV, DVD player, IDD telephone, tea and coffee-making facilities, minibar, hairdryer and in-room safe.
The beach villas are set upon the powdery white sand and surrounded by lush vegetation such as hibiscus and sea cabbage for extra privacy. Highlights include four-poster king-size bed/twin beds and outdoor rain showers. 14 of the beach villas are semi-detached and offer an increased amount of space and a partition door joining the villas.
Families and groups of friends will find the Beach Villa Suites are also a good option. They consist of two Beach Villas joined by an outdoor seating area, creating a two-bedroom beachside oasis with a shared sundeck between the two villas.
The Semi-detached beach villas are set upon the powdery white sand and surrounded by lush vegetation such as hibiscus and sea cabbage for extra privacy. Highlights include four-poster king-size bed/twin beds and outdoor rain showers. The beach villas has a conecting door.
Situated over the crystal-clear water of the lagoon, the sunrise or sunset-facing Water Villas feature floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom which fold back across the entire fourth wall so you can fully embrace the ocean views. They also offer espresso machines and direct access to the lagoon via steps from your private sundeck.
Our incredible Lagoon Suites are the last word in seclusion. As the most luxurious Maldives villa category at Medhufushi Island Resort, they are freestanding villas built over the lagoon. They are located in splendid isolation accessible only by a private dhoni (wooden boat). The captain is on hand around the clock to ferry you between the suite and the island if you want to leave it, or meals and amenities can be delivered to the suite upon request. There’s also a large bathroom with open-air rain shower and a double bathtub facing the sea.

A team of skilful and experienced spa therapists are on hand to deliver a range of treatments including massages, body wraps, facials, pedicures and beauty treatments. Choose to have your treatment either in the cool and contemporary air-conditioned treatment rooms or in the open air under the shade of a pavilion. The Medhufushi spa uses a unique signature relaxation oil or a choice of pure essential oil blends.
Popular treatments include hot stone massage and the signature Medhufushi Fusion massage. This 90-minute massage is a blend of five world massages aimed at promoting good health by stimulating the body’s energy flow. Also popular is the 120-minute Knowledge of Life treatment; which uses the ancient methods of Ayurveda to harmonise the body’s rhythm with nature by massaging intersections of your body’s life-force combined with shirodhara and concluding with an Indian head massage.

Breezy and shaded by coconut thatch, Alfresco offers unbeatable views of the glassy lagoon day and night and is ideal for romantic dinners at sunset. Here you can enjoy a variety of a la carte specialities, wine and other beverages.
Named after the Dhivehi word for mermaid, this poolside restaurant has breath-taking views of the ocean. The venue provides buffet-style breakfasts, lunches and dinners with chefs manning live cooking stations to tailor your meal to your taste. The Malaafaiy Restaurant cuisine is inspired by culinary traditions from around the world.
A range of special set dinners are available for private dining experiences, served in a choice of locations. They can be enjoyed on a quiet patch of beach, in the Sunset Pavilion or in the privacy of your villa.
Under the lofty thatched roof of the over-water pyramid, Vilu Bar offers a range of premium spirits, cocktails, wine and beer as well as a snack menu. There’s also billiards, darts and a library area. Special events such as crab racing and traditional Maldivian ‘bodu beru’ drumming also takes place here.
The Werner Lau Diving Centre team is waiting to greet you at Medhufushi Island Resort. Scuba diving in Meemu Atoll is hard to beat. While there’s no house reef there are a host of dive sites in the surrounding area to explore. The majority of the dive sites within the atoll are easy to dive because they are protected from very strong currents by the coral formations. Here you can discover stunning coral gardens, reef fish, small sharks and some beautiful macrolife. There’s also a channel dive in the vicinity available for exploration and on the outer reefs where the current is stronger you can discover reef sharks, mantas and even occasional whale sharks.
You can book from a selection of morning dives, night dives, full-day excursions and half-day excursions and we also have camera hire and underwater scooter hire. Shoals of blue-lined and humpbacked snapper, sweetlips and fusiliers are amongst the colourful collection of marine life at this dive site, which shelves steeply at a 45 degree angle before dropping down as a sheer wall after 30m. Turtles, sharks and tuna are also regularly spotted here.
As the name suggests, this is a superb spot for sighting manta rays. There are various cleaning stations in the vicinity where mantas and their young can be observed between just 10 to 15m. The healthy reef slopes down gently to 30 metres and is a popular site for large fish including tuna, barracuda and napoleon wrasses.
Eagle rays, sharks, fusiliers and jackfish can be found on the corner of the outside reef and can also be seen from just a few metres into the channel. Sometimes it’s dived as a drift dive, taking in some interesting overhangs and vibrant hard and soft coral.
This site is a small giri located close to a channel. White tip reef sharks, grey reef sharks and large fish including tuna, grouper as well as schooling mackerel and fusiliers are common sights at Simply the Best, which also features ridges covered with spectacular coral.
A lot of overhangs adorned with beautiful coral can be found throughout this site. Between 15 and 25m on the south side you can find beautiful hard and soft coral and sea fans. Big shoals of rock cod, sweet lips, fusiliers and blue-banded snappers provide a colourful and mesmerising spectacle.
Sharks Tongue is a challenging dive site which requires some skill but divers who successfully navigate it will be rewarded with the sight of turtles, large schools of oriental sweetlips, surgeon fish, fusiliers and copper snapper between 8 and 15m. The reef slope is the jewel in the crown of Sharks Tongue, with groups of black tip and white tip reef sharks between 15m and 30m. During incoming currents grey reef sharks and silver sharks often make an appearance.
The spectacular infinity-edge pool adjacent to the lagoon is one of the pride and glories of Medhufushi. From the right angle you can catch the reflection of the striking over-water pyramids on its glassy surface. Cool off from the tropical sun or enjoying basking in the sun’s rays adjacent to it. Poolside service is available throughout the day.
Deep Blue Watersports Centre offers a host of activities including kite-surfing, windsurfing, surfing, knee-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, fun tubes, catamaran sailing and jet ski hire. Surfers will find that Meemu Atoll has some excellent and un-crowded surf points, many of which are within a short distance of each other and can accommodate all levels of skill.
Available excursions include sunset and morning fishing, deep sea fishing, island-hopping, dolphin-watching, snorkelling and special honeymoon excursions.
